Israel's Chief Rabbi Rabbi David Lau today (Thursday) publishes halachic instructions for the members of the rescue teams of the Home Front Command and the Salvation Union who are working in the areas of the earthquake disaster in Turkey.
At the beginning of the instructions, the chief rabbi writes: "A terrible disaster occurred this week in the state of Turkey. A severe earthquake hit many cities and many buildings collapsed on their inhabitants. The rescue and rescue operations have been going on for several days."
"The State of Israel also came to its senses and was called to help through delegations from the Home Front Command and the Rescue Unit. The delegations include two components, one is a team to locate the missing and rescue them, this team went out with mechanical and engineering equipment. The other team includes medical personnel and equipment to establish a field hospital."
In light of the continuation of the rescue work ahead of the approaching Shabbat Kodesh, Gard Law states in his instructions to the members of the delegations:
1. The hospital will continue to work in its usual format and will provide all medical assistance to the wounded who need it, as well as to the people of the area who need medical assistance.
B.
Wherever there is any chance of saving lives and finding survivors, the engineering team must continue its activities.
The chief rabbi's instructions were passed on to the rabbis of the communities in Turkey, to the commander of the Home Front Command Colonel Rafi Mila, the Director General of the Salvation Union Eli Polak, and the commander of the delegation Lieutenant Colonel (acting) Golan Vach.
