Lattakia Governorate has developed an action plan today to control the work of accommodation centers designated for families affected by the earthquake, and to distribute aid allocated to them in a way that contributes to providing decent services, helps unify relief efforts, and ensures that it reaches those who deserve it.

This came during a meeting of the Subcommittee for Relief, which was chaired by the Governor of Lattakia, Eng. Amer Hilal, and in the presence of directorates, concerned public authorities, NGOs, and representatives of offices of international organizations, where it was emphasized that efforts would be coordinated with the Relief Subcommittee, organizing aid operations and prioritizing them for the families of the victims, the injured, and those living in crumbling buildings. constitute a danger to them.

The governor stressed the need to deliver aid to those who are eligible, and to coordinate with the administrations of residence centers in this regard, and to indicate the need for the presence of residents in them, in parallel with the work of inspecting buildings from which their residents left for fear of cracks, and indicating the possibility of returning to them, and establishing centers for temporary and permanent residence until the completion of a committee The general safety of the buildings and their work.

And he indicated that the relief operations will be carried out through coordination with the governorate through members of the executive office and the governorate councils to supervise each region, manage the work of associations and organizations, provide protection and security for residence centers, and speed up the process of obtaining and organizing data.

Hilal called on the associations to provide the governorate with its capabilities to meet the relief operations, and the need for international organizations to take note of the next stage of these operations related to securing hospitals' needs in terms of medical supplies, devices, and equipment for removing damaged buildings.

The Director of Education, Omran Abu Khalil, indicated that there are more than 52 damaged schools, including schools that students cannot return to, with about 13 schools that have been transformed into temporary residence centers, and work will be done to reduce them and transfer their residents to other centers to ensure the return of students with the return of the educational process.

For his part, the Director of Health, Dr. Hawazen Makhlouf, indicated that the coercive measures imposed on Syria greatly affected the response to emergency health cases as a result of the earthquake, due to the lack of medicines, medical supplies and devices, indicating that the medical staff continued to work without interruption since the earthquake occurred.

Makhlouf presented the losses that affected the health sector, including medical personnel, equipment, and health centers that must be evacuated as a result of the earthquake, including the oxygen station in the Al-Basil Center for Heart Diseases, which increased the suffering of the health sector.

He pointed out that about 70 percent of the earthquake victims who were transferred to hospitals will be discharged, but they have lost their homes and some of them are children who have lost their breadwinners, and they need a large program of support from all parties and organizations working in the humanitarian field.
