This evening the former attorney general, Avichai Mandelblit, was interviewed for the Ovda program on Channel 12.

In his first interview with Ilana Dayan, he attacked the reform of the justice system promoted by Justice Minister Yariv Levin with the backing of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"The independence of the judicial system cannot be compromised. The leaders of legal reform are leading a regime of oppression," he said.

"I think there is a question that everyone should ask themselves," Mandelblit explained.

"After all, it is not a new thing that these are the opinions of Yariv Levin. But Netanyahu did not appoint him for years. Why did he appoint him to the position now? My assessment and my opinion - Netanyahu wants to bring about a situation where the trial will not come to an end properly."

The former Attorney General resigned from his position exactly one year ago.

He said in the interview that today he felt a lot of sadness and sorrow towards Netanyahu, this after he filed the indictment against him, and became the first legal advisor to accuse a sitting prime minister.

Mandelblit, who is considered close to Netanyahu, was appointed in 2013 as Cabinet Secretary and later, in 2016, as Legal Advisor to the Government.

After he started serving in the position, he received a lot of information about which he started investigations that led to the indictment.
