The Chinese Red Cross Society announced that it has sent today a team of rescue workers with the first batch of medical supplies to Syria to assist in relief operations and to face the repercussions of the devastating earthquake that struck Syria at dawn last Monday.
Xinhua said that the association sent supplies that meet the needs of about 5,000 people, at the request of the Syrian embassy in Beijing and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.
The Society had previously announced a donation of $200,000 to the Red Crescent Organization as emergency humanitarian aid, noting that it would keep pace with the humanitarian needs in the affected areas and continue to provide humanitarian aid.
