The branch of the National Union of Syrian Students in Russia organized with their Russian colleagues a stand in solidarity today in front of the Syrian embassy in Moscow in solidarity with their homeland after the earthquake it was exposed to.

The participating students raised slogans and chanted slogans calling for lifting the unjust Western blockade imposed on Syria, pointing to its need for food and medical supplies, medicines and heavy engineering machinery to remove rubble and building debris in order to reduce the number of victims and save what can be saved.

In addition, the Syrian community and Russian citizens continued to arrive in large numbers to the embassy headquarters in Moscow, bringing with them large quantities of various types of humanitarian aid, including medicines, foodstuffs, and clothes for those affected by the earthquake. The embassy staff prepared them to send them home at the required speed.

In an interview with SANA's correspondent in Moscow, the Syrian student, Jamal Muhammad, said: "We were surprised by the extent of the Russian people's love for Syria, as the civil initiatives collected huge amounts of aid that we did not expect," adding: "The Russian people and expatriates in Russia, Arabs and foreigners, are sympathetic to Syria and its people.

Student Fadi Hammoud said: “We received with pain the news of this great injury that befell our beloved homeland Syria,” expressing condolences to the families of the victims and wishing recovery to the injured, while student Ahmed Al-Hassan said: “We are here calling on the international community and all countries of the world and international human rights organizations to lift Sanctions on Syria and the delivery of necessary aid to the Syrian people.

Student and journalist Layan Maarouf said in a similar interview: We are in Moscow arranging and packing donations and aid to send them to our people in Syria, and we hope to overcome this crisis, expressing her thanks to those who provided any assistance.

A Russian student said: “We stand here to demand that all Western countries lift the blockade and unjust sanctions imposed on Syria,” adding: “The humanitarian aid that arrived in Syria was from friendly and Arab countries, and no aid arrived from any European country, so we demand the lifting Sanctions on Syria.

A student from Venezuela and another from Nicaragua affirmed the solidarity of the peoples of Latin America with the struggle of the Syrian people to get rid of the policies imposed by the United States on Syria, and stressed that these sanctions are an illegal and inhuman measure, especially in the circumstances of the natural disaster that struck Syria.

Russian citizen Nikolai, a student studying Arabic at the University of Friendship among Peoples, said: “I want to express, in my name and on behalf of all Russian students, the deep sadness that has befallen us in light of this painful and severe disaster, and I say that we in Russia are ready to make all possible efforts to overcome this crisis in Syrian".
