Al-Hasakah - SANA
The flow of the Khabour River in the city of Hasakah has improved, with a flow rate of 10 cubic meters per second, after the river's course had almost completely dried up during the last period.
The Director of Water Resources in Al-Hasakah, Eng. Abdul Aziz Amin, explained that the flow of the river and the improvement of its course is due to the flow of its tributaries (Zarkan and Al-Jarjab), as a result of the recent rainfalls in the governorate, and the formation of torrents in the valleys coming from the area of Jabal Abdul Aziz.
Amin indicated the importance of the flow of the Khabour River, whose course had completely dried up during the last period, as a result of the lack of rain in the region, as it will contribute to improving the level of storage of the Al-Basil Dam in the south of the governorate in the event that the river continues to flow.
The rains witnessed by the province during the current week contributed to an increase in the surface dams’ reserves, amounting to 7 million cubic meters, in the dams of the Al-Malikiyah region, such as Al-Safan, Al-Hakimiyah, Al-Mansoura, and Al-Jawadiya, in addition to the valiant martyr dam, south of Al-Hasakah.
