According to police figures, as of October 31, 2022, the police have arrested a total of 10,279 people (7,537 men and 2,742 women), aged between 11 and 87, on charges including participation in riots, illegal assembly, wounding, and assault Causing bodily harm, common assault, arson, criminal damage, assaulting police officers, obstructing police officers in the performance of their duties, possession of offensive weapons, etc.

4,010 of those arrested were students, and 1,167 of them have been prosecuted.

Of the 2,915 persons who have been or are in judicial proceedings, 1,705 face legal consequences (including 1,391 convicted, 304 required to sign conservative acts, 6 sentenced to care or protection orders and 4 contempt of court (civil procedure )), 57 people were dropped charges, 382 people were acquitted after trial, and the judicial process for the rest is still in progress.

Another 25 were released after being cautioned by the superintendent.

"PolyU incident" involved 900 people

Among the remaining 7,000 people, it is reported that about 900 people are involved in the "PolyU incident". The police once pointed out that the nature of the case is serious and complicated, and the amount of evidence involved in the case is huge, and more time is needed for investigation.

For the remaining more than 6,000 people, the police said that they will review the evidence of the case and consider a number of factors, including the seriousness of the case. If necessary, they will seek advice from the Department of Justice and will decide how to handle the case in a short time.
