Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov has reaffirmed the falsity of US allegations that Russia is a "safe haven for cybercriminals".
“The allegations of the US Treasury Department that Russia is a safe haven for cybercriminals are false and irresponsible, and it is only part of the hybrid war being waged against our country,” Antonov was quoted as saying by Novosti news agency, adding: Last year, Russia was subjected to unprecedented external cyberattacks and repelled about 50 people. Thousands of such attacks, most of which were carried out from American soil.. Thus, it seems that the United States should be called a haven for cybercrime.
Antonov pointed out that the new sanctions that the United States justified by "combating cybercrime" are "another example of the unjustified American accusations against us ... which makes us get the impression that the Treasury Department has no other job than imposing sanctions on the Russians in a clumsy manner and without presenting arguments or arguments." Evidence, as they appear to be trying to appear as cybercrime warriors to American taxpayers.”
The Russian ambassador stressed that "the defeat of digital crime must be carried out in cooperation between the two sides, but Washington has frozen high-level dialogue on this file ... and we will certainly not impose ourselves."
The United States had added seven people to the list of sanctions imposed against Russia in coordination with Britain, claiming that they are linked to a hacking group “based in Russia.”
