Miguel Insfrán, alias Tío Rico, was arrested this Thursday in Brazil, as reported by the Paraguayan Attorney General's Office.

Paraguayan justice accuses him of being the leader of a transnational drug trafficking network.

In addition, he is designated in Colombia as suspected of being the intellectual author of the murder of Paraguayan prosecutor Marcelo Pecci, which occurred on May 10 of last year on a beach near Cartagena.

The crime already added nine captured, mostly investigated in the Andean country as material responsible.

The State Attorney General, Sandra Quiñonez, informed the different media that Miguel Insfrán, alias Tío Rico, wanted for the #AUltranzaPy case, was arrested in Brazil and awaits official communication from the authorities of the neighboring country.

The Brazilian authorities have not yet sent Paraguay an official communication about the capture.

However, prosecutor Manuel Doldán has confirmed to

Abc Color

that they have requested Tío Rico's fingerprints.

Now the formal notification is awaited, a necessary step to send an extradition request.

Paraguayan justice investigates Insfrán as the alleged leader of a transnational drug trafficking network.

The expectation, however, is that he could also be investigated for the suspicions of the Colombian authorities regarding the Pecci case, according to the newspaper

La Nación

.

The prosecutor had participated in the Ultranza A Py Operation, which points to Insfrán as the leader of the criminal structure.

Pecci had carried out 12 raids and seized planes, boats and other assets that were used to launder money.

Pecci's murder shocked Colombia in May of last year.

The lawyer was the specialized prosecutor against organized crime in Paraguay and was in charge of several of the most important drug trafficking and money laundering cases in that country.

He was on his honeymoon on the paradisiacal beaches of the Caribbean when some hit men who arrived on a jet ski riddled him with bullets.

It was soon discovered that it was an international network coordinated from Brazil.

The last capture occurred a few weeks ago, in El Salvador.

Margareth Chacón, who pleaded not guilty, was accused of collaborating in the logistics necessary to carry out the murder.

Her husband and her brother-in-law, Andrés and Ramón Hoyos, accepted the charges and apologized for the murder.
