In Panama, two people died during a confrontation between rival gangs inside the La Joya and Nueva Joya prison complex, the General Directorate of the Penitentiary System reported in a statement.
The fatalities are a police officer and a prisoner, and three other people were injured.
The bulletin added that state security elements and the Ministry of Government maintain control of the place.
He added that, through a joint operation, reviews are being carried out to confiscate firearms in the prison, and that family visits have been suspended until further notice.
