In the early morning of today (10th), a tenement building on Canton Road, Mong Kok suspected that the "urine bag" short-circuited and caught fire. A 35-year-old woman was sent to the hospital in a coma due to smoke inhalation. She died after rescue.

The husband and uncle of the deceased rushed to the scene and wept.

It turned out that the deceased was a nurse at a public hospital. Because of the epidemic, she moved to Mongkok to live alone to make it easier to travel to and from the hospital. She was killed by the fire and left behind a pair of young children.

The cause of the fire was suspected to be a short circuit in the "urine bag". Staff from the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department went to the scene to investigate.

The deceased, surnamed Liao, was 35 years old. After the fire alarm, her husband and uncle came to the scene one after another, weeping sadly.

It is said that Liao and her husband have a pair of children, aged 5 and 3, who live in Tsuen Wan District.

She is a nurse in a public hospital. She is related to the epidemic. She is suspected of being immune to the impact of the virus on her family. She moved out of her own residence in September last year to facilitate her return to work.

Some neighbors said that Mrs. Liao brought her daughter here occasionally, but she heard her crying from time to time.

The scene was on the first floor of No. 925-927 Canton Road. At 2:55 am, a lot of smoke came out of the unit.

Firefighters arrived and used a hose and a team of smoke caps to fight the fire, and put it out at 3:50 a.m., during which time a female resident was rescued. She was unconscious from smoke inhalation and sent to Kwong Wah Hospital by ambulance for emergency treatment. Died at 4:25 am.

During the fire, 20 residents evacuated by themselves, including foreigners.
