The former TV judge and actress Ruth Herz is dead. From 2001 to 2005 she played the leading role in the RTL show "Das Jugendgericht".
Munich/Cologne – Mourning for the former TV judge and actress Ruth Herz († 79).
As the private broadcaster RTL announced on Friday, Herz died at the age of 79.
"All our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with her family and loved ones," TV broadcasters said on Instagram.
The cause of death is not known.

Ruth Herz played from September 2001 to September 2005 in the RTL court show "Das Jugendgericht", which was set up to compete with the popular Sat.1 show "Richter Barbara Salesch".
Herz left the Cologne broadcaster in 2005 to lead a research project on media and justice at the University of Oxford.
The show was canceled two years later.
Barbara Salesch, on the other hand, made a TV comeback.
Ruth Herz starred in the show herself.
She had already made a name for herself as a judge.
She had been a judge at the District Court since 1974 and two years later took over the presidency of the Juvenile Court.
In 1998 she was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Herz received the award for her services in establishing victim-offender compensation in youth law.

Ruth Herz is the daughter of a Jewish lawyer who fled to Palestine to escape Nazi persecution in 1933.
At the age of seven, Herz moved to Germany with her parents from Palestine.
She died in Cologne last Thursday (February 2nd).
The sympathy for Ruth Herz is great on social media.
"A great personality," writes a fan who expressed his deepest sympathy to the family and relatives.
"But that really hits me now," says another user.
"She was a very likeable woman," says a third.
At RTL, meanwhile, there is a major upheaval.
After the merger with the Gruner + Jahr magazines, the TV company took a closer look at the magazine articles.
Around 700 of the 1,900 jobs are to be eliminated.
Four magazines are discontinued or sold.
This is a serious cause for concern for many employees.
