He is not the first to make the remark.
Invited to RMC on Friday February 10, government spokesperson Olivier Véran commented on the political climate of recent months: particularly heated debates in the Hemicycle on pension reform, a record fine imposed by Arcom on C8 after the violent sequence between Cyril Hanouna and Louis Boyard, or the hasty departure of Jean-Luc Mélenchon on BFMTV Thursday evening following a question about Adrien Quatennens.
All of this leads the minister to one conclusion: “
I think there is too much violence in politics.
»
For Olivier Véran, it is in particular about “
the way in which we question ourselves, the way in which we call out
to each other ”, whether in the political sphere or on the media scene.
"
There is too much violence expressed on all sets
," he added.
“
More and more, we go quite easily to invective, to words that are harsh, to fairly strong formulas.

According to the spokesperson, “
television, radio, the media in general
” must have “a
vocation also to serve as an example for the population
”.
"
The respect that each other owes to each other, we must also guarantee
it", he developed.
Evoking "
quite oppressive things
" in the exchange of the day before between Jean-Luc Mélenchon and a journalist from BFMTV, or even the regular "
slippages
" which can be observed during Cyril Hanouna's broadcasts.
Not failing to slip in a political criticism, Olivier Véran also targeted the Nupes and the National Rally, recalling that “
the hemicycle is not a reality show
”.
"
It is very difficult today to have a debate idea against idea
", he added, although the troops of the majority lend themselves, too, regularly, to the sometimes theatrical game of the lower house.
