With the aim of expediting the structural assessment of the cracked buildings in the governorates affected by the earthquake and aftershocks, the General Company for Engineering Studies in the Ministry of Public Works and Housing prepared a working guide for the field rapid intervention teams in charge of the assessment in partnership with the Engineers Syndicate and universities.
The Ministry of Public Works and Housing stated in a statement, of which SANA received a copy, that the guide helps rapid field intervention teams to quickly assess the initial usability of damaged buildings, submit the necessary forms for data collection and assess the structural safety of residential and public buildings, stressing that the guide was presented, discussed, approved and circulated to the syndicate branches. In Lattakia Governorate and its countryside, the engineers of the General Company for Studies, Coastal Region Branch, continued to work in committees to detect structural damages throughout the province in conjunction with the information collection and classification team, and to build the database at the temporary branch headquarters by the planning engineers in the Coastal Region Branch.
In the Jableh region, committees for evaluating the damage and structural safety of buildings damaged by the earthquake continued their work, as they included government facilities in addition to providing expertise to citizens and assisting in assessing damages in their homes, while the number of buildings that were uncovered in Aleppo governorate reached ten government buildings and about 63 residential buildings. .
