The
World Cup in Qatar
ended on Sunday, December 18, with the final between
Argentina
and
France
and the consecration of
Lionel Messi
's team .
But in the history of the
Lionel Scaloni
Selection there was a key date, November 11.
That Friday, at noon, the AFA released a very austere and formal production video, with DT announcing the 26 footballers called up for the Middle East adventure.
Today, almost three months later, another video was released with the backstage of that day and a completely different climate.
In the new material, Scaloni appears together with
Roberto Ayala
, one of his assistants, putting the names one by one on the blackboard that appeared in the background in the official communication.
The Mouse, blue fiber in hand, obeys the orders of the DT, who with his Santa Fe tune (and little attachment to the esses, as appropriate) is singing the players and their respective position on the field.
He is a natural Scaloni, with time also to complain because "the water in the mate is cold", without knowing yet that he was close to being crowned world champion.
The turn of the camera pointing at Walter Samuel and the "teacher" Luis Martín after the DT claim seems cinematographic.
"How do you see it there?" Scaloni ends up asking, just before settling in his chair in front of a desk to make room for the other Scaloni, who recorded the announcement with the official list of the Selection that everyone saw.
It is worth remembering that those 26 were not the ones who finally ended up playing in the World Cup because DT had to make a couple of changes, forced by injuries and discomfort that he detected in a friendly prior to the competition.
Nico González and Joaquín Correa gave up their places to Angel Correa and Thiago Almada, who traveled to Qatar at the last minute.
Then came Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland, Australia, the Netherlands, Croatia and that last little step against France.
World champions.
And an everlasting joy.
