The Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghobash, discussed with the Regional Director of the World Health Organization, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari, the priorities of joint cooperation for the emergency response to provide the necessary treatment services for those affected by the earthquake.
During the meeting held in the Aleppo governorate building, Minister Al-Ghobash stressed that the health institutions are working around the clock and with all their energies to keep pace with the necessary needs of the injured, noting the role of the organization in providing the necessary support.
Dr. Al-Ghobash explained the importance of extending a helping hand to the health sector in Syria, especially with regard to providing medical equipment, supplies and medicines to enhance the rescue of those affected by this humanitarian catastrophe, stressing that the aid must be sustainable.
The governor of Aleppo, Hussein Diab, gave an explanation of the damage and effects left by the earthquake, as about 180 shelters were established, explaining the importance of intensifying humanitarian efforts and treatment services for those affected.
For his part, Dr. Al-Mandhari referred to the coordination with the Ministry of Health and the concerned authorities to provide treatment services in light of the increasing needs due to the repercussions of the earthquake, praising the role of the medical and nursing cadres working in the health sector in Syria.
The meeting was attended by the Director of Health, Dr. Ziyad Al-Hajj Taha, the representative of the World Health Organization in Syria, Dr. Iman Al-Shanqeeti, and the Director of Emergencies in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, Dr. Rick Brennan.
