Alter Shlomo Lederman, a young man of about 20, and six-year-old Jacob Israel Plai were murdered today (Friday) in a stampede attack in the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem.

The incident took place a little more than three hours before the start of Shabbat, while the murdered and injured were waiting for the bus.

At 1:33 p.m., the initial report came about a Mazda-type vehicle with a yellow license plate, which accelerated toward several people at a bus stop in the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem, in the direction of Givat Ze'ev, and ran them over.

Unlike other stations on major roads in the city - it was not protected.

A minute later, a report was received that the terrorist, Hussein Karaka, an Israeli Arab about 30 years old from East Jerusalem with a criminal record, had been shot at the scene.

At the same time, members of the Rescue Union had already arrived at the scene and treated the injured.

In the meantime, police forces and MDA personnel also arrived at the scene, who after about fifteen minutes had to determine the death of the six-year-old boy, who was without signs of life.

The rest of the wounded have meanwhile been evacuated to hospitals in Jerusalem.

Less than half an hour later, confirmation was received that the terrorist is an Israeli Arab, a resident of East Jerusalem.

At around 14:05 Commissioner Kobi Shabtai, who was in the area, had already arrived.

At 14:12 a police helicopter began to scan the area, to make sure there were no people who helped the terrorist.

At 14:24, after about 50 minutes of fighting for his life, the death of the second person murdered in the attack, 20-year-old Alter Shlomo Lederman, a yeshiva student who got married only a few months ago, was pronounced dead.

At 2:30 p.m. the Prime Minister's Office announced that Netanyahu had decided to immediately seal off the terrorist's house and demolish it.

About half an hour later, Mayor Moshe Leon announced that he intends to expand the protection at bus stations throughout the city.

Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir announced that he instructed the police to prepare for the "Protective Wall 2" operation in East Jerusalem starting Sunday.

However, a senior political official rejected his statement and emphasized that Prime Minister Netanyahu is the one who will make a decision on an operation, only at the same time as consulting with the security forces and at the end of a political-security cabinet meeting.

"Decisions about an operation are not made by a minister from the scene of an attack on a sidewalk," said the source.

The source added that after an investigation it appears that the terrorist is a mentally challenged person who was released this week from a psychiatric hospital.

He lived in a rented apartment, so it is not yet clear whether it is legally possible to seal or demolish his house.
