The United States shot down on Thursday night a new unidentified object that was flying over its territory in the
Alaska
area .
It was shot by the
Pentagon
after receiving an order from President Joe Biden.
This was confirmed by the
New York Times
newspaper , which quoted an administration official, who immediately confirmed the information.
"We describe it as an object because that's the best description at the moment.
We don't know who it belongs to
," said National Security Council spokesman John Kirby.
The incident occurs days after the United States authorities ordered the shooting down of the alleged Chinese spy balloon that flew over the country last weekend.
He himself had been shot down over the Atlantic.
