Thüngersheim - On Wednesday, February 10, a driver touched a six-year-old boy on the way to school "and left him injured on the road," writes the Lower Franconia police in a press release.

A witness followed the woman (35) and stopped her car in the Retzbach area.

According to current knowledge, the student was on his way to school at around 7.45 a.m. and crossed Schulstraße in Thüngersheim (Würzburg district).

An initially unknown driver turned her car into Schulstrasse at the same time.

She touched the boy, who fell on the road.

Instead of taking care of the apparently injured student, she continued her journey.

"An attentive car driver didn't hesitate for a second and took up the pursuit of the fleeing woman," the police reported in the press release.

The man was constantly in contact with the police operations center and regularly communicated his location.

When the woman finally came to a stop at a traffic light on the B27, he took the opportunity and removed the woman's vehicle key.

Shortly thereafter, a patrol from the Würzburg-Land police station arrived.

Meanwhile, other witnesses looked after the six-year-old until the arrival of the emergency services.

"He was seriously injured in the accident and had to be taken to a nearby hospital for treatment," police said.

"The police expressly praise the courageous intervention of the accident witness, which quickly clarified the accident escape of the 35-year-old, as well as the exemplary behavior of the other witnesses who provided first aid," it continues.
