The terrorist crashed his vehicle into a bus stop where residents were staying.

At the time of the stampede attack, Major A, a detective in the central unit of the Jerusalem district, was on his way to his family members in his private car and was not on duty.

In fact, he is the first policeman to arrive at the scene of the attack seconds after it happened.

A. recalls those moments: "Around 1:27 p.m., I was driving my private car on Golda Highway.

I recognized at the bus stop on the left a number of people lying on the floor and a car at a bus stop.

I understood that this was a run-over attack.

I pulled out the gun, stepped on it and ran towards the driver of the car.

I fired one bullet in order to neutralize the terrorist.'

Major A, who was in civilian clothes and wearing a police identification hat that he had in his possession, was joined by Major N, a patrol policeman from the Lev HaBira station in the Jerusalem district, after hearing the report of the attack on the police communications network.

Major N. described those moments: "During the morning shift, a report was received about an attack at the Mintz intersection.

I arrived at the scene of the incident and rowed for contact.

I noticed the terrorist inside the car.

Together with my partners, we neutralized the terrorist."

Assessing the situation at the scene, the commander of the Jerusalem District, Superintendent Doron Turgeman, praised the performance of the police officers: "The district police officers attempted contact and neutralized the terrorist, including a police officer who was not on duty.

This is a lone threat who used his vehicle as a weapon against innocent citizens, including children.

The fight against terrorism in all its shades and against terrorists wherever they are will continue, and we will use all the tools at our disposal to continue to protect the citizens of Israel."
