A rocket fired Saturday from the Gaza Strip into Israel was intercepted by Israel's air defense system, the army said in a statement.
The shooting was not immediately claimed by the armed groups of this Palestinian territory, controlled by the Islamist movement Hamas.
The army had previously reported that warning sirens had sounded in Kibbutz Nahal Oz, near the Gaza Strip.
This shooting comes the day after a deadly car-ramming attack in East Jerusalem in which three Israelis died, including two children.
The assailant was shot dead by officers, police said.
Since the beginning of the year, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has claimed the lives of at least 43 Palestinians (including combatants and civilians, including minors), nine Israeli civilians (including three minors), and one Ukrainian woman, according to an AFP count based on official Israeli and Palestinian sources.
