Today (12th) at about 6:24 in the morning, there was smoke coming out of a platform curtain door at Kowloon Bay Station on the MTR Kwun Tong Line towards Whampoa. There was no need to evacuate passengers on the platform, and the train was temporarily suspended due to the incident. Firefighters are investigating the cause of the smoke from the curtain door.
The MTR said that due to the failure of the automatic platform gate equipment at Kowloon Bay Station on the Kwun Tong Line, the current train service between Choi Hung Station and Kwun Tong Station on the Kwun Tong Line is blocked.
In view of the current situation, the current service status of the Kwun Tong Line trains is as follows: between Whampoa and Choi Hung Station maintains a train every 6 minutes; between Kwun Tong and Tiu Keng Leng Station maintains a train every 6 minutes.
Train service from Kwun Tong to Choi Hung Station is suspended.
The MTR is arranging free shuttle buses from Kwun Tong to Choi Hung Station.
Passengers are requested to reserve sufficient time for the itinerary and consider using other means of transportation.
MTR personnel are currently carrying out emergency repair work.
