And our ski legend Rosi Mittermaier (1950-2023), who learned to ski here, made the Mecca for winter sports enthusiasts world-famous.
In 2020, the host of the Hotel Sonnenalm on the Winklmoosalm estimated that two-thirds of his guests came because they knew the connection to our Gold-Rosi, according to Rolf Fröhling in a program for Radio SWR 4. Rosi also said: "Of course it is home for me.
My parents' house is still there.” And this is where Mittermeier learned to ski.
But now a piece of Rosi's homeland is being sold: the Hotel Winklmoosalm (1180 metres) on a high plateau between the Dürrnbachhorn and the Kammerkörplatte has closed.
The owner's reasons for giving up after 14 years, despite major investments and expansions, are of a purely private nature.
"Other than that, we don't have a private life anymore." Because in addition to the Winklmoosalm, he and his wife also run a hotel in the center of Reit im Winkl and the Alte Schmiede restaurant.

The hotel is in very good condition, according to Stephanie Cerza from the Munich real estate agency Duken & v.

It has been continuously renovated and extended by a 200 square meter conservatory.
The main building has 16 double and triple rooms, three apartments for up to eight people and one single room.
