Russian citizens and Syrian expatriates and students continued to flock to the headquarters of the Syrian embassy in Moscow today, to provide cash donations and in-kind assistance, to contribute to helping the victims of the earthquake that struck Syria.

Syria's ambassador to Moscow, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, received some visiting donors, and thanked them for their feelings, solidarity, and synergy with those affected by this earthquake, pointing out that the United States and its followers bear the primary responsibility for the suffering of the Syrian people over the past years, which was exacerbated by the earthquake disaster.

Al-Jaafari also confirmed that Washington’s recent decision to ease some of the restrictions imposed on Syria for a period of only six months is “a hypocritical and deceptive decision and a clear recognition that the US sanctions in particular are the main cause of the pain of the Syrian citizens.”

During her meeting with Ambassador Al-Jaafari, the head of the Russian Solidarity Fund with the Syrian People, Lilia Muhammad Yarova, expressed her sympathy for brotherly Syria and shared her pain, indicating that the leadership of the Fund decided to provide an amount of one million dollars in support of those affected, and allocated part of this amount to purchase medicines, food and powdered milk for children.

During his meeting with Ambassador Al-Jaafari, the representative of the leadership of the Russian social organization Krasny Krug, which includes doctors of various specialties, announced the readiness of its members to travel to Syria to provide urgent medical assistance to the affected people.

In interviews with SANA's correspondent in Moscow, the Russian student Yuri said, "We came to the Syrian embassy to share the pain of the Syrian people, as a result of the disaster that befell them, and to offer what we can to help them," expressing his optimism to see many Russian youths flocking to the Syrian embassy in Moscow to offer Donations.

In turn, the Russian child, Yaroslava, said: “We collected some foodstuffs and health supplies for children and brought them here to send them to Syrian children.”

The Syrian student Ibrahim Salman, who participated with his colleagues in organizing the receipt and sorting of aid, said: “What Syria has been exposed to requires us to fully stand by our country, so this stand, and this campaign to help deliver these donations to our people, was an expression of sympathy and solidarity with our beloved homeland.” .
