Israel's ambassador to Spain Rodica Radian-Gordon was attacked last Wednesday during a lecture at a university in Madrid by several dozen pro-Palestinian activists.
In a video that was circulated last night (Friday) on social networks in Spain, we can see how the ambassador is being evacuated to a security room by Israeli and local security guards while dozens of activists are shooting at her, and none of the security guards pulls out their weapons and points them in the direction of the protesters.
A source in the Foreign Ministry stated that it was a very violent and serious incident.
According to him, after the local police sent forces to the scene and evacuated the protesters, the ambassador's lecture resumed.
According to him, that same evening, Foreign Minister Eli Cohen called the ambassador in Madrid to strengthen her stance against the extreme anti-Israel protesters and noted favorably the fact that she returned and continued the lecture and the event continued despite the appalling attempt to prevent it with violence.
The Israeli Embassy in Madrid responded: "We are appalled by the violence of the anti-Israeli demonstrators, which was directed against the Israeli Embassy, at a conference at Complutense University to mark 30 years of the Oslo peace process. We thank the dean for her determined and courageous leadership of an open and balanced academic discourse. We do not refer to security issues the embassy".
