Martin Griffiths, the United Nations Emergency Relief Coordinator, called on the countries of the world to help provide relief to the thousands of homeless people who need shelter and food as a result of the devastating earthquake that shook Syria and Turkey at dawn last Monday.
Reuters quoted Griffiths as saying in a press briefing today: “The earthquake disaster that occurred last Monday is the most devastating in the region in nearly 100 years,” noting that the United Nations will launch a three-month operation to help the afflicted, expressing his hope that countries will work to Support this process and provide the necessary assistance.
