LeBron James is already the NBA's all-time leading scorer 2:46
(CNN) --
Once LeBron James walked onto the court and took a seat in the crowd, it took a split second for the young fan next to him to recognize who she was sitting next to.
But when he did, 12-year-old Gaia couldn't contain her excitement.
As her brother took photos, she covered her mouth with her hands in astonishment and kept looking at the new NBA leading scorer in a moment caught on television cameras.

"When he sat here, I'm not as tall as him, obviously, so I could only see his shoes," Gaia told ESPN reporter Lisa Salters during the game.
"Then I looked up and I saw LeBron James, and the thing that went through my mind was, 'Oh my God, the greatest basketball player of all time is sitting next to me!' I completely freak out, I just think, ' Oh my gosh, this is like the best moment of my life.
The NBA later tweeted a video of the moment and it went viral.
Sitting next to James, Gaia watched the Los Angeles Lakers beat the defending champions Golden State Warriors 109-103.
James became the league's all-time leading scorer earlier this week, surpassing the record held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for 39 years.
"I ordered these tickets over three months ago, I was very excited and expected LeBron to break the record in this game," Gaia added.
"Even when he beat it, I was really excited to come to this game. When I found out he injured his foot, I was sad. We didn't know if he was going to travel with the team to this game or not."
After the game, he even got to meet the NBA legend, as the Lakers posted photos of the two high-fiving each other.
