"I am stopping my race for the presidency not because of the threats and attempts to discredit, but only to protect my family, my staff and my clients," he added, "Last week I was lynched by the media and not only that. Journalists gave a platform to clients who made various claims against me and strange, without giving me the ability to defend myself. The facts that speak in my favor are not examined and the truth is of no interest to anyone anyway. This is the reason why I refused every offer for an interview in the last few days," said Basraglik, apparently referring to the claim that the victim of a sexual offense sued after she asked him not to represent her anymore.

"There is only one truth, and anyone who has ever received service from me and my office team knows how devotedly my team and I work on the cases, at all hours of the day and night even while giving up everything else. They also know how dear each of my clients is to my heart, just like Family for me," wrote Basraglik, "as long as there are among those clients who were interviewed, people who are not satisfied with the service they received, it is certainly possible to meet and talk, but the place for that is in my office, and not in a campaign of lies in the media."

Attorney Eyal Basraglik was employed by the family of Yuri Volkov, who was murdered in December at a crossing in Holon due to a road dispute. After the murder, the family started a crowdfunding campaign for help, and received donations worth approximately NIS 915,000 in donations. But in Sergalik, the lawyer of the family, charged Volkov's family a fee of 600,000 shekels, about two-thirds of the amount of the donations. After the case was discovered, the lawyer announced that he would return part of the money to the family.

Following this publication, the Ethics Committee of the Tel Aviv District opened an investigation into Basraglik's case and discovered that about a week Before that, he was convicted in a case where he represented a victim of a sexual offense. In that case, the lawyer asked the victim for fees in the amount of NIS 80,000, which were transferred from her pension funds. Later, the victim decided that she wanted to change the legal representation, because she was not satisfied with the treatment of the lawyer D Basraglik in the case - but he demanded that she pay the full fee.
