Today (12th) at about 6:24 in the morning, there was smoke coming out of a platform curtain door at Kowloon Bay Station on the MTR Kwun Tong Line towards Whampoa. There was no need to evacuate passengers on the platform, and the train was temporarily suspended due to the incident. Firefighters are investigating the cause of the smoke from the curtain door.
MTR announced at 8:00 a.m. that the equipment failure of the automatic platform gates at Kowloon Bay Station on the Kwun Tong Line has been repaired, and the train service on the Kwun Tong Line has gradually returned to normal.
There was an automatic platform gate failure at Kowloon Bay Station on the Kwun Tong Line. The train service between Kwun Tong Line and Choi Hung Station and Kwun Tong Station was blocked for a time. Around 7:30 a.m., there was a 6-minute train between Whampoa and Choi Hung Station; between Kwun Tong and Tiujingling Station maintains a train every 6 minutes.
MTR arranges free shuttle buses from Kwun Tong to Choi Hung Station.
Passengers are requested to reserve sufficient time for the itinerary and consider using other means of transportation.
MTR personnel are currently carrying out emergency repair work.
