Two consecutive cetacean stranding cases occurred in Tai O, which are the fifth and sixth cases this year respectively.
The Hong Kong Ocean Park Conservation Fund received a report on February 9th that a cetacean was stranded on the beach near the Tai O Heritage Hotel. It was the corpse of a male juvenile cetacean, about 114 cm in length. .
In addition, the Conservation Fund also received a report yesterday (11th) that a cetacean was stranded in the sea opposite Tai O. It was the corpse of a male adult Chinese white dolphin, about 242 cm in length, and the corpse reached the second-grade fresh corpse.
According to the Conservation Fund, the two dolphins were brought back to Ocean Park earlier for detailed dissection and analysis.
Ocean Park Conservation Foundation Hong Kong appeals to the public to call the 1823 hotline if they find any suspected strandings of cetaceans, sharks, and mackerels.
