In the Church of Our Lady of Soufania in Damascus, a prayer was held for the comfort of the souls of the victims, presided over by the parish priest, Iyad Zeno, during which he prayed to God to preserve Syria, lift the calamity from its people, spare it all evil, heal the wounds of the earthquake victims, and grant the bereaved patience and solace.

The worshipers prayed to God to speed up the recovery of the injured survivors, to soothe the souls of the families of the martyrs with faith, and to grant them determination and strength to rebuild what was destroyed, expressing their thanks to everyone who provided assistance to the Syrian people from the brotherly Arab and friendly foreign countries.

In Al-Hasakah Governorate, with the participation of the heads of churches in the city of Qamishli, a prayer was held in the Syriac Orthodox Church of the Virgin Mary to pray for the protection of Syria.

Metropolitan of the Jazira and Euphrates said to the Syriac Orthodox, Bishop Maurice Yaqoub Amsih: "We met today with the participation of the heads of churches and bishops to raise invitations and prayers so that God accepts them and lifts the calamity as a result of the devastating earthquake that struck the region."

He added: “What afflicted the people of the afflicted provinces is all of us pain, and as the children of Syria, our affliction is one and our wound is one, and just as we have overcome the long years of terrorism, we will overcome this ordeal and crisis that exceeded all perceptions, because God is with us.”

In Homs Governorate, the Syriac Catholic Holy Spirit Cathedral witnessed a prayer for the dead and living victims of the earthquake, as part of the response to the invitation of the churches of the world to participate in it under the title (Let's Pray Together) for the earthquake victims.

Priest of the Syriac Catholic Holy Spirit Cathedral, Father Michel Noman, said in his statement to SANA reporter: “This great pain awakened goodness in us, so people came to help each other in many ways,” pointing to the endeavor to unify church relief efforts for the afflicted, as a joint committee was formed between all churches to collect Donations in all their forms and supervise their distribution and delivery to the beneficiaries.

In turn, the official of public relations and diocesan endowments in the Syriac Catholic Archdiocese and assistant priest of the parish of Homs, Father Hamid Masouh, stated that this prayer for Syria and the victims of the earthquake is a response to the call of the churches of the world, as it is held at the same time in all parts of the world so that we are united in praying for the dead, the missing and the sick.
