President Bashar al-Assad received His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss the repercussions and effects of the earthquake that struck Syria.
The guest minister conveyed the condolences of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to President al-Assad and the Syrian people.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed expressed sincere sympathy to the families of the victims, wishing recovery for the injured, and affirmed his country's support and standing by Syria in this ordeal, and its continuation in providing the required assistance to help the Syrian people overcome the effects of the earthquake.
For his part, President al-Assad thanked the leadership and people of the United Arab Emirates for the assistance it provides to the Syrian people, and pointed out that the UAE was among the first countries that stood with Syria and sent huge relief and humanitarian aid and search and rescue teams, stressing that the Syrian people appreciate the positions of the Emirates and its rapid response, which reflects About the depth of the bilateral relations and ties that bind the two countries, and the humanitarian principles of the brotherly Emirati people.
President al-Assad entrusted the guest minister with his greetings to the President of the Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and to the Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and wished the UAE further progress and prosperity.
After the meeting with President al-Assad, the Emirati foreign minister visited the areas affected by the earthquake and was briefed on the efforts of the Emirati search and rescue teams operating in those areas.
