In the midst of one of the painful and bloody weekends, the coalition leaders published an announcement that dealt with the war - but in a different way: that of the government in the High Court. The sensitive timing indicates how much the fortification issue stresses Netanyahu, but also the absence of a responsible adult who will separate the war on terror from the struggle between the authorities

The Knesset celebrates a birthday

Netanyahu: "Democracy is the rule of the majority, not the rule of the gun" (Walla system!)

It was one of the most painful weekends the country has known in recent years.

Three members of one family, including two small children, were murdered in a heinous attack in Jerusalem, the city that has once again been plagued by terrorism, when only two weeks ago seven residents of Neve Ya'akov were massacred as they left a synagogue in the deadliest attack in the last decade.

With the end of Shabbat, the residents of the Gaza Strip also received a shot of painful reality from the past, and the color red rushed them once again to the protected spaces.

At the same minute, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's spokesman issued a joint statement on behalf of all the heads of the coalition.

It did not include an expression of condolences to the families of the murdered, nor a promise to fight terrorism hard.

The title of the statement did indeed deal with the war, but in a different way - that of the government in the Supreme Court.

"The discussion of the fortresses - a military coup, an illegal impeachment attempt with a lack of authority," the statement, which was distributed in response to the High Court's announcement of its intention to discuss the petition that demands that Netanyahu be declared a fortress, which was published yesterday, even before the terrible attack. Right at the end of Shabbat, barely an hour after it was known The death of eight-year-old Asher Plai, the heads of the coalition hastened to formulate and urgently ratify the harsh response, which accuses the judges of attempting to oust a sitting prime minister and "hands down Israeli democracy."

There is no responsible adult.

Because that is what is most important now, and to teach us what is important to them.

Netanyahu himself did not sign, but Yariv Levin, Aryeh Deri, Itamar Ben Gvir, Bezalel Smotrich, and Yitzhak Goldknopf - who was even recorded spending a prestigious weekend of ultra-Orthodox gentlemen in Prague - for none of them would it have seemed pointless to publish the violent statement against the court After such a horrible and deadly weekend.

It was a moment that pretty much distills everything that's been happening here for the last month and a half.

The government that promised to fight crime, terrorism and the high cost of living directs most of its resources to fight the justice system.

Levin's reform/coup/revolution is being promoted at lightning speed and is given priority over any other issue in the government and the Knesset, and all the deliberations of the Constitution Committee chaired by Simcha Rothman have been impounded for only one purpose, while trampling on parliamentary norms and blatant attacks on the legal advice to the government and the Knesset, in the present and in the past.

At the end of the week, in an interview on 103FM, Rothman called for the former ombudsman Avichai Mandelblit to be put in prison. No less, following an interview on the "Ovda" program in which he expressed concern that the reform could lead to oppression and violence.

At the same time, Shas chairman Aryeh Deri expropriated the coalition for his war The private statement at the High Court: First, he delayed the formation of the government until he passed a Deri law that would qualify him for office despite his criminal conviction, and now, after the High Court invalidated his appointment as a minister, he is forcing his partners to promote Deri Law 2,

Shows helplessness in the face of terrorism.

Even the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir, who shows helplessness in the face of the wave of terrorism, finds his refuge under the auspices of the all-out war in the judicial system and constantly heats up other side arenas: after the terrible attack in Neve Ya'akov last month, he launched a sharp attack against the Legal Adviser to the Government, Gali Beharev Miara, accusing her of delaying the sealing of the terrorist's house.

On Friday morning, before the attack in Ramot, he was engaged in a thuggish skirmish with the police commissioner and the commander of the Jerusalem district demanding more force be used in the protests against the reform. This, while promoting legislation that would allow him to subordinate the commissioner to him and receive even more powers, which is being promoted, how No, contrary to the position of the police and the legal advisor to the government.

Ben Gabir's hasty announcement at the scene of the attack on the "Protective Wall 2" operation in East Jerusalem, which was stopped by a "senior political official" close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, testified mainly to confusion and pressure.

But his demand for collective punishment measures, which are usually met with firm opposition from the jurists, will build another case for the government against the ombudsman, who is reaching out from every direction, and especially when she is dealing with the fact that the prime minister is accused of crimes.

Last month, against the background of reports that the Ministry of Justice is examining the question of the extradition, the coalition leaders sent Beharev Miara a joint threatening letter in which they warned her, like the judges of the High Court, of attempting to impeach a sitting prime minister. Last week, after the spokeswoman informed Netanyahu that it was forbidden For him to engage in legal reform because of the conflict of interest settlement he signed as part of the trial, they published another joint statement in which they accused her of silencing and trying to thwart the reform, to which she had already announced her opposition.

According to senior Likud officials, the multiple attacks against Beharev Miara are part of an overall strategy by Netanyahu and his partners, which is intended to eventually make her resign from her position and at the very least inflame the base with Case to calls for her impeachment.

The statement of the heads of the coalition against the High Court, while Jerusalem is still burying the bodies of those murdered in Ramot, shows how much the issue of fortifications stresses Netanyahu, but also the absence of a responsible adult, who will use judgment to separate the war on terror from the war of the authorities that threatens to turn into a fratricidal war.

Nothing would have happened if the leaders of the coalition had waited a few hours, until Sunday, to launch the angry response to the High Court on the debate on Nebtsara.

After all, they devote most of their energy and time to the war against the judicial system.

This week, the Knesset will start voting on the first phase of Levin's reform - changing the composition of the committee for selecting judges and prohibiting the High Court from invalidating fundamental laws, as well as on Deri Law 2, which will prevent the High Court from interfering in ministerial appointments.

Despite the warnings, the protests, the petitions, the strikes, the government is moving forward with the attack on the Supreme Court and is not letting anything stop it.

Not even for terrorism.
