In the last days of January, progress was made known in the tender to recover the abandoned area of the
Pejerrey Club
on the coast of Quilmes and turn it into a gastronomic walk.
But at the same time, and with more rhythm, another project on the same shore is advancing.
It is about the construction of La Ribera de Quilmes Park, with the aim of creating a public space for recreation and leisure on the banks of the Río de la Plata.
As detailed by the
Municipality of Quilmes,
the execution of the work will take approximately six months, weather conditions permitting.
The project, which began at the end of October, is carried out within the properties located at the intersection of Otamendi and Cervantes avenues and Marinero López street;
Nautical Fluvial Access and Río de la Plata Coast.
The entrance to the Park will be made through a welcome plaza called
"Pórtico Solar"
, which constitutes an iconic piece defined by a spatial metal structure made up of a cover of solar panels.
This area is characteristic of the city of Quilmes, as it is part of the historic sector where the Club Náutico and the boulevard are located, linked by a coastal wall for public use.
This will be the descent to the beach, according to an official render.
"The construction of Parque de La Ribera has the purpose of enhancing one of the most emblematic recreational areas of our city through the conditioning and improvement of the space, achieving the least possible environmental impact", they explain from the Commune, who also indicated that the measure also seeks to generate ecological awareness and encourage care for the environment by revaluing the existing landscape, reintroducing species, contributing to the functioning of the site's ecosystem and creating landscape biocorridors.
As part of the work, the property will have a set of intermediate-scale spatial thematic units with plaza logic, which
will have children's games for early childhood and for older girls and boys.
There will also be ping pong tables, a recreation yard for adults and seniors, and another yard for aerobics.
One of the main attractions of the property will be
the creation of a skatepark and a natural amphitheatre.
In addition, it contemplates accessible trails, a bike path that will allow a tour of the entire park and the incorporation of low-maintenance street furniture, as well as bathrooms for visitors.
“Quilmes has very nice plazas, like the Bicentennial plazas, which is in the center, and the one on Smith and Vicente López avenues, in Quilmes Oeste, which have games for children with autism.
This addition is going to add a lot.
Having such beautiful green spaces gives life to the neighborhoods and allows us to have one more option to walk, play sports, or play with our children”, says neighbor Soledad Cabrera.
The works of the Parque de la Ribera, in Quilmes, are advancing.
The works are framed
within the "Parques Argentinos" program,
belonging to the Ministry of Public Works of the Nation, which aims to create a public space for recreation and leisure on the banks of the Río de la Plata, and in turn, respond the deficit of public green areas per inhabitant and provide quality infrastructures to urban centers with local or regional potential.
To achieve this, the emphasis is placed on "composing a system of contemporary, multidimensional urban infrastructures, where programs that encourage recreational, leisure, educational, sports, cultural and social gathering uses coexist."
