The Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court today (Monday) extended by six days the detention of Barkhat Abu Esa, the rape suspect.

At the beginning of the month, it is suspected, the young man from the Bedouin diaspora broke through one of the windows in the house at night.

At the time, the victim and three small children who were sleeping were in the house.

He tied her hands and blindfolded her and raped her.

After the act, he fled the scene and she called the police, who began a hunt.

The police representative said at the hearing that the suspect is not cooperating with his investigation but there is strong evidence against him.

From the investigation so far, it emerged that the suspect focused on the victim's apartment and watched it before the incident, in order to plan where to enter.

As mentioned, his detention was extended until Sunday.

The rape provoked many echoes, when the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir also arrived at the scene the next morning and encountered the anger of the residents.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu also expressed shock at the case.
