The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, discussed today with Geir Pedersen, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria, and the accompanying delegation, the efforts that can be taken to enhance the role of the international organization in responding to the devastating effects left by the earthquake in Syria, with an emphasis on the need not to politicize the humanitarian issue and respect the sovereignty of Syria and its territorial integrity.
Pedersen expressed his deep condolences to the earthquake victims, stressing his readiness to do everything in his power to help Syria overcome the effects of this disaster.
For his part, Al-Miqdad expressed his thanks to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his Special Envoy for their solidarity with Syria in light of this unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, stressing Syria's keenness to provide all possible support to those affected by the earthquake, and to deliver humanitarian aid to all those in need in all regions without any interference. discrimination.
Al-Miqdad affirmed Syria's readiness to work closely with various United Nations agencies to strengthen and support the efforts of the Syrian state in facing the catastrophic repercussions left by the earthquake, pointing to the need to lift all unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people.
