Property Guru claims that we usually clean the obvious places in the house, such as the pillows and the floor, but forget about places that come into contact with us every day and may infect us with diseases

Think about it for a moment: we are used to cleaning floors, toilets, stoves and windows well - but when was the last time you cleaned the door handles or the electrical switches at home?

When you think about it, there are many places in the house that we come into contact with every day and never clean.

Terry Fisher from the real estate agency We Buy Any Home claims that these areas accumulate amounts of bacteria and neglecting them can cause us to get a cold, sore throat or fever. He claims that every surface that is touched often deserves regular cleaning. "These surfaces may provide a habitat for a variety of bacteria , from Staphylococcus aureus and salmonella to E.coli and mold," he explained to the SUN.

So that you don't have to go to the trouble of thinking about these places yourself, he compiled a list of the areas of the house that require cleaning and are often neglected:

What are the dirtiest places in the house?

The toothbrush holder

Who even thought to clean there?

Well, if your toilet is in the bathroom and every flush in the toilet causes fragments of water to rise and travel far, don't be surprised if some of your toilet fluid has made its way into your toothbrush holders.

Wash them thoroughly - including your toothbrushes - at least once a week.

This is how to clean the toothbrush holder:

the computer keyboard

Whether you use your computer for work or to watch Netflix, if you touch your keyboard every day - it's probably in desperate need of cleaning.

"Our computers, tablets and mobile phones are a central part of our lives, whether we use them for leisure or for work - and therefore our hands are constantly in contact with them," said Terry, "not disinfecting our keyboards and touch screens regularly allows germs and bacteria to continue to accumulate and new ones to pass through the fingers as well our".

The TV remote

Not only in hotels: even at home it is recommended to wipe down our TV and air conditioner remotes.

Just try to count the number of times you touch these remotes every day.

They accumulate bacteria and can make you sick.

This is how to clean the remote:

Knobs, light switches and sockets

Door handles, light switches and sockets also need cleaning (and be careful with the electricity, the video below will help).

Terry says: "We turn the light on and off regularly using one of the biggest breeding grounds for bacteria - our hands. Just like any other surface in the house that we touch regularly, they should be disinfected once a week."

This is how to clean sockets and electrical switches:

Electrical appliances in the kitchen

When was the last time you cleaned the outside of the kettle?

Or the buttons on stoves, ovens and microwaves?

All of these need cleaning once a week, because neglecting them can harm your health.

Terry said: "It is important to remember to clean and disinfect electrical appliances regularly - both inside and out, including handles or touch screen buttons, at least once a week."
