Philippe Vardon's appeal to Éric Ciotti can be read in two ways.
The first, that of an elected opposition member of the Nice municipal council wishing to broaden the mobilization to save the Palais des Congrès in Acropolis.
This was the meaning of his speech last Saturday at a public meeting.
"We have 15 days left, so I make a solemn appeal to Eric Ciotti: let's organize a common gathering which will be that of the people of Nice!"
, he launched full of determination … but not without strategy.
The city council has validated Mayor Christian Estrosi's project to raze the building to extend the green corridor.
Fierce at this idea, the two men as well as the environmental opposition denounce it.
For, with few words of difference, the same reasons: a general mismanagement, at the same time economic, budgetary, cultural and environmental.
Everyone in their corner has mobilized against the demolition of Acropolis for a month, in vain.
Even if the employees won their case in a legal appeal, the Palais des Congrès should be destroyed at the beginning of March.
The other way of understanding this call is eminently political.
It is a question of sending a stone in the garden of Éric Ciotti and his ambitions to run for the Hôtel de Ville.
During the rally of the deputy of the first constituency of the Alpes-Maritimes, two members of Reconquête!
had come to slip into the crowd of around 700 people: Jean Moucheboeuf, the president of Éric Zemmour's party at the departmental level and deputy to Philippe Vardon, as well as Geneviève Pozzo di Borgo, municipal councilor of this same group entitled "Find Nice ".

This is confirmed by the camp of Philippe Vardon, who explains that he hesitated for a long time to go to the rally in front of the Acropolis palace organized by the deputy and president of the LR party.

Éric Ciotti did not wish to react to this common rally call against the demolition of Acropolis.
He certainly won't respond.

Locally, he has no interest in appearing with him.
Outstretched hand and embarrassment
Through his request, Philippe Vardon called on Éric Ciotti to

Since 2020, the elected opposition member has been campaigning for a local referendum on the subject.
He remains convinced that it is still possible to avoid the backhoes:
"It's an outstretched hand that Eric Ciotti will have to grab before February 28
," he insists.
In these words, it is also a question of testing Éric Ciotti and putting him

but also in a certain embarrassment.
During the right-wing primary, the latter declared that he preferred to vote Éric Zemmour rather than Emmanuel Macron in the second round, which was not forgotten on the shores of the Mediterranean.

In the legislative elections, no candidate Reconquest!
did not appear against Eric Ciotti either.
