Diego Santilli launches the candidacy for governor on social networks and warms up the Buenos Aires inmate of Together for Change

2023-02-13T23:58:24.818Z

The national deputy formalizes the announcement, seeking to be ratified as the candidate who measures the most within the opposition. He anticipates the rest of the PRO and the aspirants of radicalism.

This Wednesday, through social networks,

Diego Santilli

will formalize his candidacy as governor of the province of Buenos Aires.

It was discounted that the national deputy, with the

permission of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta

, was going to launch before March, to get ahead of the rest of the possible candidates for Together for Change, eight in total, between the PRO and the UCR.

"People, on the tours, asked him to confirm his candidacy," they explain the decision in the "Colo" environment.

According to his campaign team,

Santilli currently has a knowledge level of between 75 and 80%

in the Buenos Aires area, 20 points more than when he made his candidacy for deputy official in 2021, in the Buenos Aires legislatures that he ended up winning.

The announcement will be private.

Unlike the times of massive events, Santilli

will launch through social networks

, in a purely digital strategy.

"No more than that is needed, because he has already been installed before," they say in Santillismo.

The current deputy will be part of a summit of the PRO National Table

this Tuesday

, in which all the important actors of the party will participate via Zoom.

There, he will formalize what many had already been imagining: the candidacy in search of fighting for the governorship of Axel Kicillof, who has been leading in the polls.

Santilli never stopped the campaign in the summer despite having fractured two ribs on January 23, while playing paddle tennis in Pinamar, where he spent a few days with his youngest son, Tonio, 13 years old.

Despite the injury, "Colo" continued with his activities and boasts of having traveled more than 1,600 kilometers in the province of Buenos Aires in an electoral plan.

Santilli's candidacy

does not imply that he is going to confirm his running mate

.

In their environment they imagine an entirely PRO society, with some Buenos Aires mayor: Diego Valenzuela is shaping up to be, at least, their campaign manager.

Although for now he does not get off his own aspirations for the governorship.

More names play inside

In addition to Santilli,

at least five other names appear within the PRO

to compete for the succession of Axel Kicillof: Cristian Ritondo, Néstor Grindetti, Joaquín de la Torre, Valenzuela and Javier Iguacel.

Two others, meanwhile, are running as possible candidates for radicalism: Martín Tetaz and Gustavo Posse.

Although it could also be added, in case there is an electoral agreement, José Luis Espert and Cynthia Hotton.

Of those ten names today, Santilli marks an advantage over the rest, at least in the polls that have been measuring voting intention.

The "Colo"

has also been building good ties with mayors from the interior and the Conurbano

, but above all it is ahead of the others in building a close link with provincial radicalism, which has Maximiliano Abad as its owner, and especially with Elisa Carrió , recently launched as a pre-candidate for president by the Civic Coalition.

In addition, although they do not promote it, it is finely tuned in the relationship with Macri, Patricia Bullrich and María Eugenia Vidal, the other national applicants within the PRO.

Looking for a liberal paw

Inside the

Santilli bunker they consider it essential to expand the electoral offer as far as possible in view of the JxC STEP

.

That is why they insist on adding José Luis Espert and Cynthia Hotton as possible candidates, seeking the libertarian and evangelical vote, with the main purpose of lowering the performance of an eventual candidate for Javier Milei.

In the 2021 legislative elections, Espert obtained 7.5 percentage points and became a national deputy from his Avanza Libertad front, while another 2.9% went to Hotton, today a Buenos Aires official, but with expectations of competing for the governorship.

Between them they exceeded one million votes, a not insignificant figure that can tip the election to one side or the other, especially taking into account that there is no ballottage.
