Official and popular delegations from several Arab and foreign countries continued to flock to the headquarters of the Syrian Embassy in Stockholm to offer their condolences for the victims of the devastating earthquake disaster that struck the country last Monday.
The mourners expressed their sincere condolences to the families of the victims and their wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured, stressing their solidarity with Syria in the face of this humanitarian catastrophe and its repercussions.
Among those who offered condolences were the ambassadors of Belarus, Algeria, Palestine, China, Iran, Tunisia, Indonesia, Romania, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Tanzania, heads and representatives of the missions of Iraq, Japan, Austria, Sri Lanka, Armenia, India, Austria, the Vatican, Egypt, the Philippines, Mexico, Zambia and Vietnam, in addition to His Eminence Mar Julius Abdel-Ahad Shabo, Archimandrite Jean Mansour and Rev. Nabil Hormuz and Father Paul, the priest of David.
The embassy also received many messages of condolence via e-mail from ambassadors and representatives of many other countries, in addition to religious associations and bodies.
In turn, Acting Chargé d'Affaires Dr. Tamim Malko praised the position of the ambassadors, the positions of their countries in solidarity with Syria, the representatives of states and mourners, and their sincere feelings, stressing that Syria appreciates the positions of brothers and friends, especially in light of this natural disaster after twelve years of global war imposed on it, in addition to the illegal unilateral coercive measures. The immorality and inhumanity applied to it by the USA and the West.
Melko pointed out the need for concerted efforts to confront the catastrophe of the devastating earthquake and its repercussions.
