The Minister of the Economy also announced on Monday the extension of the fuel allowance until the end of March, available for the 10 million poorest households.

It is a continuous erosion since the end of January.

While inflation weighs daily on the wallets of the French, motorists can have a smile.

For two weeks, fuel prices at the pump have continued to decline, according to the latest data published on Monday by the Ministry of Ecological Transition.

Diesel, first of all, goes from 1.8873 to 1.8279 euro per liter, indicates last Friday's average.

The SP95 drops from 1.8996 to 1.8729 euros per litre.

As for Brent, finally, it fell from 83.2 to 82 dollars a barrel.

Good news for the French dependent on the car, who are no longer protected by the general rebate at the pump of 10 cents per liter, set up by the State.

And by the reduction of 20 centimes per liter of TotalEnergies.

To prevent social unrest, the government had set up a fuel allowance of 100 euros in early December for the 10 million poorest French people.

This is equivalent to a discount of 10 cents per liter for those who drive more than 12,000 kilometers per year.

Paid in three instalments, the aid is not distributed per household, but individualized.

Half of the eligible households have not yet requested their compensation, according to Bercy, the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, announced Monday on RTL the extension of one month of the system put in place since mid-January.

The allowance

"was to stop at the end of February, we will extend it until the end of March so that the millions of our compatriots who are entitled to it can go get it",

he specified.
