This morning (Monday) there will be a hearing on the extension of the detention of 22-year-old Barkhat Abu Essa, a Bedouin from the Negev, at the Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court, who is suspected of sexually assaulting a resident of Gedera.

The police are expected to ask to extend his detention by five days in order to continue the investigation of the difficult case.

This, after nine days after his arrest, the police were able to consolidate the evidence against him, including findings such as DNA from the scene linking him to the act attributed to him.

According to a source familiar with the investigation, Abu Essa marked the woman's apartment before breaking into her house and watched the place earlier.

But contrary to the publications, there is no identification that the serious acts allegedly committed by Abu Essa were on a nationalistic basis and for the time being since the main investigation refers to the incident in the criminal aspect only.

Last week, the police began investigating the suspected rape of a 30-year-old woman by a suspect who broke into her home.

According to the assessment, the woman's three children, under the age of six, were present in the house at the time of the act.

The police have a video of the suspect arriving at the building to carry out his plot, on News 13 in the program "Friday with Ila Hasson" Eli Senior published a recording of the suspect arriving at the building and entering the apartment.

A preliminary examination of the case reveals that the woman is sleeping in her home, where her three small children are also sleeping.

She woke up to a noise, then discovered the burglar inside the house, who attacked and raped her.

She then called the police.

The woman's friend said earlier this week in a conversation with Walla that the woman moved into the building only about a month ago, and after the incident went to her parents.

"She is very traumatized and is trying to recover, she and the children are undergoing psychological treatment."

According to her, her little son was the one who freed her from the tape that the suspect used to tie her up

at the detention extension hearing that took place last week. The police representative said that the suspect threatened the woman with a knife and told her that if she screamed he would hurt her.

At the same time, the suspect denies what is attributed to him.

"This case damaged the sense of security of the residents of an entire city," the police representative told the judge.

According to the tenants, the suspect worked as a laborer in one of the nearby buildings, and watched from there.

They also said that he tried to open the door of the building and failed.

After that he climbed on the roof of a courtyard of a house, went up to the balcony on the first floor, took a chair and from there went up to the second floor.

"The tenants are under pressure, they brought people to install more cameras and also someone to strengthen the locks on the balconies and the front doors," said one of the neighbors.

"There were cameras, but we realized that it might not be enough. We are trying to regain our security."
