Under the attack that the government launched against all the members of the Supreme Court of Justice, for whom it is trying to promote a political trial, the head of the highest Court, Horacio Rosatti, spoke by phone this Monday with the Minister of Security, Aníbal Fernández, to ask him to get involved in the protection of federal judges in Santa Fe whose safety is at risk for investigating drug trafficking.
After a brief dialogue,
Fernández agreed to provide custody
to the federal magistrates of five Santa Fe cities:
Venado Tuerto, Rosario, Santa Fe, Rafaela and Reconquista.
The contact was made hours after the
threats against the judge and the federal prosecutor of Venado Tuerto, Aurelio Cuello Murúa and Javier Arzubi Calvo
, respectively, became known.
In the middle of a peak in the already high wave of crimes and violence that has mourned Rosario for years, the intimidation of magistrates in the southern city of Santa Fe set off the few alarm bells that had not yet gone off.
The judge and counselor of the Magistracy Alberto Lugones had written to Rosatti -also president of the Council- to ask him to "urgently" require the national and provincial authorities to protect judges and prosecutors from the hot strip adjacent to the Paraná River.
