Geneva, SANA- Experts from the United Nations called on the international community to take measures to stop the plans of the Israeli occupation

Geneva-SANA

UN experts called on the international community to take measures to stop the Israeli occupation's plans to demolish Palestinian homes in the West Bank and forcibly displace them.

Wafa news agency quoted the experts as saying: The reports documented the demolition of (Israel) during the past month of 132 Palestinian buildings in the West Bank, which represents an increase of 135 percent, compared to the same period in 2022, noting that dozens of Palestinian families in Jerusalem face the risks of evictions. Forced displacement More than 1,100 Palestinians in Masafer Yatta are still at risk of forced eviction, arbitrary displacement, and the demolition of their homes and properties.

The experts stressed that the demolition of homes, the establishment of settlements, the denial of building permits for Palestinians, and the assault on the Palestinian people, their schools, their sources of livelihood, and their water resources come within the occupation's attempts to limit the Palestinians' right to self-determination and threaten their existence.

The experts expressed regret over the continued impunity of Israel, the occupying power, for its human rights violations and war crimes, stressing that the time has come for the international community to achieve justice for the Palestinians and hold Israel accountable for the crimes it committed against them.

It is noteworthy that the experts are Francesca Albanese, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territory occupied in 1967, Balakrishnan Rajagopal, Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, and Paula Gaviria Betancourt, Special Rapporteur on the human rights of internally displaced persons.
