In an email to the employees, Hodak accuses his partners of being arrogant and shunning him • Only recently did the police open an investigation against the lawyer on suspicion of inciting violence

Attorney David Hodak, head of Gross & Co., which merged with Goldfarb-Seligman and became the largest law firm in Israel, announced his retirement from his position this morning (Tuesday) in an email to employees.

As you may recall, the police recently opened an investigation against Attorney Hodak, after he said at a bar association conference: "I have decided that I will not live one day in a dictatorship, and if I have to fight for it - I will fight.....people are ready to fight with weapons.

So everyone is shocked, what, how do you say such a thing?

I say, if we have to get to it, and if they drag me there, that's what I'll do...".

"Get rid of me"

In a letter he sent to all the employees of the office, Attorney Hodak wrote that "at the end of the busy day, I started receiving messages from acquaintances, which the office I belong to denies me.

I was told that an email was published in the media that went out to the lawyers and employees of the office and was deliberately leaked to the media.

The email went out from Maya (Advocate Aya Yufa), with the support of Esther and Eyal (Advocate Ester Koren and Adv. Dr. Eyal Shanhav).

"The email begins with a song of praise for the ministry's positions against violence. The email opens with 'Regarding the statements recently heard in the media on the subject of legal reform, it is important for us to emphasize that our ministry calls for maintaining the rule of law... and condemning any type of violence'. Our ministry adds and says: "The words David Hodek said in the media the last day, reflect his personal opinion only and do not represent in any way the position of the ministry."

Attorney Hodak attacks the message and writes: "This is a complete denial.

Maybe they should have thought that there is a certain point in my words about the destruction of democracy or opposition to a dictatorship?

But no - it was important for them to deny it completely, lest clients decide to leave the office following my words."

At the end of his letter he added: "If you continue to cower and fear standing up for correct values, you will not be good people and you will not be good lawyers."
