The crew of the "Ocean Viking" rescued 84 people off the coast of Libya.
As the organization SOS Méditerranée announced on Twitter, 58 of the survivors are unaccompanied minors.
Accordingly, the people were taken on board from an overcrowded inflatable boat in international waters.
Many of them are dehydrated and hypothermic.
Pictures of the action showed several people wrapped in rescue blankets.
48 people already rescued on Monday
On Monday, the "Geo Barents", operated by the organization "Doctors Without Borders", also took 48 people seeking protection on board off the Libyan coast.
As the aid organization announced on Twitter, the Italian authorities assigned the ship to the port of Ancona, which was far away from the rescue site.
The right-wing government under Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni recently switched to sending private sea rescuers to distant ports after operations.
The organizations criticize that the time in the operational areas is now being shortened due to the long travel times.
As a result, fewer people could be saved.
The Mediterranean is one of the deadliest escape routes in the world.
There is no state rescue mission there, only the ships of private aid organizations are on the lookout for refugees and migrants in distress at sea.
According to estimates by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), more than 2,300 people died or went missing trying to flee across the Mediterranean in 2022.
Since the beginning of this year, the organization has counted 105 dead and missing.
Serious accidents have occurred in the Aegean Sea and on the route from Libya to Italy in recent months.
