There's still a while to go, but things have long since got off the ground again for the new summer in Schongau in August.

The historical market will last twelve days this year - the holiday of the Assumption of Mary is favorable.

Meanwhile there were also new elections in the board of directors.

Schongau

– The Schongau Summer Association has a new board of directors.

This is revealed by Manfred Wodarczyk, who unsurprisingly continues to lead the club.

Maximilian Diegruber, the innkeeper of the Blaue Traube, is now at his side as second chairman.

For the past few years he has been involved with partner Silas Schmorell and provided the stage and technology.

Diegruber replaces Beate Fiedler, who was vice-chairman for many years – she was elected in June 2004. Long-time treasurer Robert Notz is also no longer there.

Bianca Werner, who was previously the secretary, comes in for the Schongauer.

Jutta Ruffing slips into her role.

There is also a new face on the advisory board: Alexander Hana from Schongau.

One of the founding members is Georg Epple, who continues to check the cash register together with Roland Biebl.

set deadlines

For the first time, the new board of directors had invited to a regulars' table.

After all, there are currently 32 members, Wodarczyk calculates, even if the activities at this time of the year are rather low.

"We're not a sports club or a choir where the members have to constantly train or sing," says the Hohenfurcher.

At the moment, it's more about setting deadlines, who and when will take care of notice boards or flyers, for example.

Creative minds and helping hands will be needed all the more as the opening date for the historic market approaches – on Friday, August 4th.

This year, visitors can look forward to a particularly long summer in Schongau, with two full weekends and the final public holiday, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.

Twelve days come together until August 15th - the program needs to be well-stocked.

Heads are already spinning there too.

There is something new about the gastro stands, "three restaurateurs were exchanged," as Wodarczyk puts it, indicating that there were problems with a gastro group not based in Schongau.

"And I'm in the process of agreeing on the preparations for music and parties," says Wodarczyk.

The musicians' contracts are to be concluded these days.

Medieval fans can look forward to at least two new groups.

"They have not become cheaper, but more expensive," says Wodarczyk of the balancing act between quality and budget.

You now have to add 1000 to 1500 euros per music group compared to the pre-Corona period.

Last year, admission was therefore charged for the first time at the historic market - five euros per day (weekdays only from the afternoon) or 15 euros as a season ticket.

Not all guests thought that was a good thing - Wodarczyk speaks of around a third less sales of drinks.

Ultimately, however, the balance was positive despite fewer visitors.
