He was suspected of driving during suspension, driving without third-party insurance and speeding. He was arrested today (14th) and released on bail. He needs to report to the police in mid-March. The case is being followed up by the Central Traffic Camera Violation Investigation Team .


The police stated that the urban taxi involved in the case was caught speeding by speed cameras in various districts in the New Territories from November 6 to December 11 last year. The case was handed over to the Police Central Traffic Camera Violation Investigation Team to take over the investigation.

Officers issued a "Notice to Submit Driver's Details" to the registered taxi driver in the urban area involved in the case. Afterwards, a 57-year-old male driver surnamed Cai admitted that he was the driver who violated the law that day.

After an in-depth investigation by the Central Traffic Camera Violation Investigation Team, it was revealed that Cai Nan had been suspended by the court for scoring illegal points during the incident. The police arrested him today.

Police remind car owners and drivers that "driving while suspended" is a serious offence.

According to the "Road Traffic Ordinance" and "Road Traffic (Driving-offence Points) Ordinance", drivers who drive while their license is suspended may be sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment and a fine of 10,000 yuan. The public is urged not to defy the law.

During the period from November 6 to December 11 last year, taxis in the urban area were caught speeding by speed cameras in various districts in the New Territories.
