The Mainland Affairs Council of Taiwan held a press conference on "Opening up Hong Kong and Macau residents to travel freely in Taiwan" this morning (14th).
With regard to Chen Tongjia, the suspect in the Pan Xiaoying case, who surrendered to Taiwan, the Mainland Affairs Council spokesman Liang Wenjie said that the Taiwan government's position has not changed.
Guan Haoming, a member of the Legislative Council who has been assisting Chen Tongjia to go to Taiwan, said that the current stalemate is that Taiwan does not allow him to enter, and Chen Tongjia's willingness to surrender has not changed.
The spokesperson of the MAC stated that the position of the Taiwan government has not changed. Chen Tongjia’s surrender is not simply a matter of granting visas, but involves the jurisdiction of both parties. Mutual assistance requests can implement judicial justice.
Guan Haoming said that the problem is not whether Taiwan will open or close. Even if the customs is closed, he can be issued a visa. The current stalemate is that Taiwan does not allow him to enter the country.
Guan Haoming reiterated that Chen Tongjia's willingness to surrender has not changed.
