The ideological differences between Gantz's and Sa'ar's parties were exposed in a debate that broke out at the closed faction meeting. Eisenkot sought to oppose the Likud's proposal to repeal the secession law, but the right wing of the party reacted with fury. "Every time we gave up parts of our homeland, we kidnapped," replied Sa'ar. Kahana said: "It will pass even without us"

A stormy confrontation at the faction meeting of the state camp held yesterday (Monday) in the Knesset.

The members of the faction gathered for the regular meeting, to discuss, among other things, the bills that are expected to be voted on this Wednesday in the plenum, a debate arose between the parties that flooded the ideological gaps between Gantz's party members and Gideon Sa'ar's Knesset members.

The members of the Knesset dealt with the expected agenda, and among other things, the bill of Knesset member Yuli Edelstein of the Likud to repeal the secession law, so that the bans on staying and entering the territories evacuated as part of the secession plan will be completely abolished.

Knesset member Gadi Eisenkot tried to convince the right wing of the party to vote against the bill, to "rise" as he put it, and "see the full picture".

His request drew strong reactions.

Sa'ar answered him back: "Every time we gave up parts of our homeland, we hijacked it."

Member of Knesset Sharan Hashakal added that "this is my ideology. You can't ask me to give it up", and was joined by Member of Knesset Matan Kahana who asked "what do you care if we vote for it? It will pass anyway. With or without us".

Eisenkot tried to explain that there are strategic aspects and it is impossible to see everything through a private bill that comes up for approval in a preliminary reading in the Knesset, but the members of the Knesset did not give up.

According to sources in the party, the conversation was conducted in "high tones" and created tensions between the parties at the faction meeting.

The chairman of the party, Benny Gantz tried to stop the confrontation and intervened in the end. "I will sit down with Gideon, we will discuss this and we will make a decision on what to do."

This is the first time that the ideological differences within the state camp are reflected in votes in the Knesset, this is towards the first time that the coalition will vote on private bills since the formation of the government and the swearing in of the 25th Knesset.

At the beginning of the week, the Ministerial Committee for Legislation approved Edelstein's proposal as well as a long list of other bills, and they are supposed to go up for approval in a preliminary reading in the plenary.

In addition to the bill to cancel secession - on the Knesset table are other proposals such as the passage on the empowerment of Knesset member Simcha Rotman, the deportation of terrorist families of Knesset member Hanoch Milbitsky and the new Deri law designed to qualify the appointment of the chairman of Shas to the position of minister, despite the disqualification of the Supreme Court C.
